Dear User,

It is clear to us from numerous comments in our online forum and from actual direct inquiries we have received that the interest in work placements in Australia and Germany continues to grow exponentially. Unfortunately our organisation does not have the same wealth of experience in relation to work placements as we do in relation to academic or student exchanges. Further, as a non-profit organisation of alumni of Australian and German universities, we do not have the necessary industry and business contacts in Germany and Australia to be able to arrange work placements. We also lack enthusiastic members who can report to us about their work placement experiences, and who can develop and maintain contacts in the business world for us. For these reasons, we can generally only provide minimal assistance in response to your inquiries regarding work placements and we ask for your understanding in this respect. However, we would ask you to remember us, so that we may be able to offer more information in future. This means:

• send us useful links and information which you come across in the course of researching work placement opportunities;
• tell us about your work placement experiences when you return to Germany/Australia and tell us the names of any potential contacts who we may be able to refer others to in future;
• and last but not least, become a member of DeAN, so that you can reminisce and exchange stories about the wonderful time you had in Germany/Australia, and help DeAN to grow.
