Who is ?

In September 1997, the Deutsch-Australisches Netzwerk e.V. (DeAN) was established in Bonn by former German students from different faculties, who have studied in Australia. Our membership reflects this interdisciplinary atmosphere.

What does do?

DeAN offers a forum for questions concerning the relations between academic institutions in Germany and Australia. This primarily includes the promotion of student and academic exchange between the two countries. We also see it as DeAN's task to intensify the contact with German students in Australia as well as to establish relations with Australian students and academics in Germany.

In addition DeAN wants to provide former Australian / German students who have studied in Germany / Australia with the possibility of sharing their experiences during their stay and the opportunity of indulging in some Germany or Australia nostalgia. To do this we are planning academic events, to provide information about studies at German and Australian Universities, as well as social events. In particular, DeAN wants to support students, who are preparing to spend some time in Australia or Germany.

Furthermore, we want to supply general information on studying at Australian Universities and information for Australian students considering studies in Germany.

Who should join DeAN?

If you have studied or worked in Australia and would like to:

DeAN would love to hear from you. For further information on events etc., please feel free to contact the secretary general or one of the contact persons. There (or from this web page) you can also obtain an application form.
